After a long day of mentoring, the final day of the US trip included three visits to some of the most successful startups in San Francisco: Airbnb, Dropbox and Square.
At Airbnb, Dan Hill, co-founder of Crashpadder (a Seedcamp company that was acquired by Airbnb) gave us a tour of their unique offices and told us more about Airbnb’s approach to building product and his experience from being a European company acquired by an American company.

We then paid an exclusive visit to the offices of Dropbox, a product that pretty much everyone on the trip uses, where we learnt more about the company and had a great lunch.
Our last activity of the US trip was a visit to Square, a very successful startup disrupting the payments industry. We learnt about their history and more about their unique culture.

An so ends the busy schedule of the Seedcamp US trip, we’ll be back with all new companies later in the year but to stay up to date with everything happening with Seedcamp; follow us here on Tumblr or follow us on Twitter, Instagram, Facebook or on our blog.

The second to last day of the US trip also included the fourth (and last) mentoring day, this time in San Francisco at the offices of Microsoft. We had a great turn-out of mentors from the San Francisco area and plenty of familiar faces from previous Seedcamp companies that had moved to San Francisco who came back to advise the current Seedcamp teams. We would like to thank Microsoft for letting us use their wonderful space and for providing a great lunch for all the teams.

After the mentoring and presentations from the Microsoft team about products and APIs that the Seedcamp teams can build on, we paid a visit to O’Reilly AlphaTech Ventures. Here Mark Jacobsen told us about the companies they have invested in, more about their investment philosophy and how they work with European companies. One of the companies that OATV has invested in is Foursquare (who we visited in New York earlier in the trip) and Michael Harkey kindly took the time to meet us at the OATV offices to tell us more about Foursquare’s platform business development.

Our final investor visit of the trip was to the San Francisco office of Index Ventures, a venture capital find that we work very closely with in London. Terrence Rohan told us about Index’s presence in the US and how they connect European companies to the US and then took the time to meet with all the teams one-to-one.

With only one day left; to stay up to date with everything happening on the Seedcamp US trip; follow us here on Tumblr where we will be posting daily recaps throughout the trip, or follow us on Twitter, Instagram, Facebook or on our blog.
